BELIEVE CHECK-IN | FEBRUARY.

IMG_0458[1]
Two months in, and I know that this word and I were meant to be. It's been a rough start to the year, but in a way, it's been a good rough start. Sure, I haven't enjoyed every minute of the tough times, but I've learned a lot about myself and my faith, too.

As for February, there are two things that really stuck out to me in terms of believing:

BELIEVING THAT THERE IS GOOD TO COME. DON'T GIVE UP!
This one is a lot like last month's but it's something that I've had to remind myself of countless times. There have been some stressful moments at work and with teaching in general and I've had to remind myself that I cannot give up. I love teaching way too much to give it up right now!

ADMIT AND BELIEVE THAT I'M AN IMPERFECT SINNER.
I believe one of the biggest misconceptions about Christians is that we have everything put together. Newsflash! We DON'T. Well, at least I don't.

I was writing in my journal a few nights ago and it really flashed to me that I tend to pretend that I'm perfect and that I've got it all put together. But in reality? I'm a sinner, I have sinned and still sin. BUT, I'm saved by grace.

And if you're familiar with the ABC's of becoming a Christian (Admit, Believe, and Confess), I realized that in order for me to truly accept His grace, I need to admit that I'm a sinner and believe that He's forgiven me.

What have YOU learned this month? What are you hoping to learn in March?

  1. You are learning so much through your word of the year! I love that you're continuing to meditate on it. I have been meaning to do a post like this about my word of the year too but Caleb's gotten in the way every time I've tried. I guess it's a good thing my word is "grace" ;-)

  2. I don't think it's anything I learned but I'm reminded that Christ is coming again. And for me that He is very gracious to me as I fail every day.

  3. hmmm.....
    ....so much truth kiki.
God is stirring some of the most fundamental things in your heart.
the things we "learn" early and believe we have a grasp on so we just continue on like we don't need to continue to learn them.
the truth is - the most simple truths are ones that take the longest for us to wrap our hearts, minds, and souls around. and it will happen time and time again. you will have a moment with the Lord that is so real, true, and heart changing on a topic...and years later it will happen again on the same topic just a little differently.
i can't wait to see the journey God continues to unveil in front of you.
big things my friend, big things.

  4. Even though I have been a Christian for the majority of my life, fully believing that I don't have to have it all together has been a struggle! But in an ironic twist, there's also my struggle with pride that I'm a pretty good person...ha! God has been patiently working on me in both of these areas :)

  5. Glad I'm not alone, Monica! :) Pride is also something I'm learning I have a lot of, too. I used to think that pride was simply boasting but I'm learning more and more that it's so much more than just that. God has been working in me on that area of my life, too! :)

  7. I honestly have loved learning and sharing how my word for the year has changed me and I'm excited to see what else I'll learn, too.

And grace is something I'm learning about more and more, too! I cannot imagine how you balance blogging and motherhood at once, girl. It's gotta be tough! :)

  8. He really is. I never thought that I would need to revisit some of the basics but I've been learning more and more that these basics are really fundamentals and truths that I need to remind myself of more often than just once in my lifetime. Like you said, the most simple truths really are the ones that take the longest for me to wrap my mind around--that's for sure!

And I LOVED--absolutely loved--what you said about having a moment with God that really just works in my heart and life. I've had a lot of those lately and it's really shown me just how amazing He is. :)

So glad I have you to encourage me along the way! :)

  9. The Lord is working in your heart and it's so beautiful to watch!
(And he's working in mine through you, too!)

This is just wonderful and full of truth.

  10. Aw, thank YOU so much. And it means a lot (like it quite literally warms my heart) to know that He's working in you through me. My goodness, that's humbling. Quite honestly, He does the same through YOU, especially when I need a sweet post on teaching to lift my spirits and remind me why I love teaching so much. :)
