BITS AND PIECES.
Happy Halloween, friends! Growing up, Halloween wasn't really celebrated and while some of you will likely send me some hate mail for it, I can't really say it's my favorite holiday nowadays. I love seeing the creativity behind the costumes and seeing cute kids, too. And some gummy candy isn't bad, either.
But I'm also looking forward to curling up and watching some TV tonight, too! What are you up to this weekend? Are you going to dress up?
Either way, I hope you have a great one!
Never thought I'd say this, but I love this garage workspace!
A DIY project I know you'll love as much as I do.
10 commandments of a clutter-free life.
This cake sounds scrumptious.
5 tips for a healthy work life at home (which I think is a must-read for all bloggers, whether or not you consider it your job).
I'm really liking this look right now.
Does this really work?
The Japanese art of de-cluttering. As someone who loves organization (and who is also Japanese), I found this article so fascinating and so many things rang true with me!
How to make the perfect pumpkin roll. Definitely needed these tips and tricks.
This newborn session. Swoon.
And this adorable little kid.
Um, how true is this pin? Wayyyy too true if you ask me.
And how cool is this DIY project? Coolest docking station ever.
A must-read for my fellow instagrammers (although it pretty much applies to all forms of social media, if you ask me).
When you really need Jesus. This one got me good.
Happy Friday, friends!

I LOVE the article on de-cluttering. Especially the part about skipping the container store. That place is the biggest money thief with all their pretty baskets and bins and pockets and things. After you convince yourself you can afford ONE you realize you need 10 more or your project of organizing won't even work. :(
ReplyDeleteI know it's a little out there for Americans, but I love how the Japanese respect everything. EVERYTHING. They respect their food, where they place their chopsticks, their home. They even respect sports arenas and ticket holders CLEAN UP after the game. They are thankful for all that's provided. Such a great way to look at things.
In other words, we rock, Kiki, because we are Japanese.
Um, and thank you for sharing my DIY post. Let me know if you try it out ok?
Love that de-cluttering article. I'm so not a clutter person... and it drives The Hubs crazy. I've been known to go on "cleaning sprees" where I just grab a ton of stuff and either take it to the thrift store or toss it!
ReplyDeleteLove the decluttering article. I hate clutter, so it seems like i am always the one picking up things and putting them away. I am neat freak--everytime I get home from class I have to clean out my backpack and put my books and everything away. I like everything in it's place. you know?
ReplyDeletethat cake looks awesome! :)
The ankle boots and socks look- LOVE!
ReplyDeleteAnd...taking back Instagram. That spoke to me so deeply.
Why are there SO many RULES involved in what we post, how much, why, what it looks like, etc.
Honestly- I truly love instagram, I love seeing little snippets of people's lives and being inspired by these little photos and captions, but there have been some really hurtful things that have happened due to instagram in my life. Just through people's comments or judgments about my posts, or others. Not fair. Not cool.
I love that she was just like Shake it off girl, and do your thang!
It's true. True friends are not going to unfollow just cause my photo isn't curated the way they think it should be....and if they do, what does it matter anyway?
Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteME, TOOOOO! I actually have had to stop myself from buying containers because I have a bad habit of buying them because they're pretty and then never using them!
ReplyDeleteAnd I completely agree with you on the Japanese culture and how respect is valued so highly. I've had someone else tell me that, too. It's weird because I don't really think about it until someone from the outside tells me about it--you know? Anyway, it definitely reminds me how much more I can respect things and others! :)
And girl, we most definitely rock for being Japanese. Us Asian bloggers have got to stick together!
I will totally let you know when I get a chance to try it out! I still have to find a book that I'd like to pull some pages from first. :)
Same!!! I hate clutter and at work, my desk gets piled with stuff because I get tons of stuff piled on top of it (aka papers and artwork and just stuff, haha). I have a feeling I'm going to have to marry someone who understands my need for CLEAN! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm terrible about purging stuff. Like watch out, because I'll toss it! :)
Thanks, Ladonna! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!
ReplyDeleteI so get it! I'm huge on organization and de-cluttering my life and surroundings. And I'm glad that we have that in common, too! I'm known at work for tossing things quickly because I hate to have cluttered spaces full of stuff that can't/doesn't get used, is broken, etc. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I also have to unpack my stuff and keep things in certain places! When things get too piled up and crazy, I can be known for kind of/sort of freaking out and cleaning like a mad woman, haha. :)
I agree with you on socks + ankle boots AND that Instagram post, too. Danielle's blog posts always sink right to my heart. :) I have recently found myself stopping myself from posting simply because I don't think it will be post-worthy/like-able. I need to change that mindset, though. Like you said, it doesn't matter what feedback we get. We're posting photos to share--not to get liked. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read through these!! I'm not a huge halloween person myself, but seeing all the costumes is one of my favorite parts too! I'm looking forward to the clutter-free article and the working at home post too! :) I hope you have a great weekend Kiki!
ReplyDeleteI loved both of those articles and I hope you ended up liking them, too! :) Have a great weekend, Gina!
ReplyDeleteGIRL!!! Same here! We only celebrated it once in my childhood (and I don't even remember it, I was maybe like 2 or something) and don't care to celebrate now.
ReplyDeleteThat garage space is so cute and doesn't really look like a garage! I've seen that book page art here and there and I have a ton of old books I got from a thrift store years ago and I have been debating on getting rid of them, but maybe I should try something like this!!! #9 on that commandments list is my favorite and one that I try to remind myself of OFTEN! Love those 5 tips, especially number 5, being an introvert who works at home, I find it easy to forget to socialize! I love those boots! I have never owned a pair of boots (aside from cowboy boots when I was like 3 or something) and want to step outside of my comfort zone and get some! Love pumpkin rolls!!! I've never made one though because they look so intimidating, but maybe with these tips I might try it... Those newborn pictures, tooo precious! oh my gosh... I accidentally clicked "add friend" to someone once... I was so embarassed!!! I pressed cancel as quick as I could!
I can SO relate to everything you just said. I've definitely accidentally "friend-ed" someone on FB before and it was SO embarrassing, especially because I actually knew the person (just didn't want to be FB friends with them!). :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you should TOTALLY get some boots. There are so many different styles and colors and they're seriously my favorite things to wear. It's good to invest in a pair that is comfy (so sometimes spendier) but it's totally worth it if you ask me!
Yes- it is all about the mindset....I hate questioning myself over thinking about who will like it/who will judge me...etc. That's just dumb.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the bloggers I have connected with are the ones who keep me going, who support my posts the post, and who are the biggest encouragements...and I am incredibly thankful for that!
It really is dumb! But like you said, we have to remember the friends out there who are supportive and genuine, too. :)
