FIVE SURVIVAL ESSENTIALS.
One of my favorite types of blog posts are ones where you can really get to know the person behind the blog. They're not only fun to read, but it's a great way to connect and develop a deeper relationship with them.
So what's this got to do with survival essentials? Well, I was recently contacted by Man Crates, a new company that specializes in custom wooden crates for men (think manly crates--ones for athletes, gamers, and snackers, just to name a few). I may not be a guy, but if you're a daughter like me (or maybe a girlfriend, wife, or sister of a brother), you have a hard time shopping for the men in your life.
That said, Man Crates asked me a few weeks ago to participate in a blog challenge about survival essentials and asked me to create a post including my survival kit essentials. And for this indecisive girl over here, it was definitely a challenge. Here's what I picked:
1. My camera. It's pretty much attached to my hip since I hardly leave home without it. This was a no-brainer in my book!
2. Journals and lots of them. While I love typing, there are times in life when a handwritten note or journal entry is so much more personal. That, and I also love working on my non-existent calligraphy and handlettering skills.
3. My laptop (and internet access). I think this one could be cheating, but I'm not sure I can live without the internet. There are way to many resources--blogs, Pinterest, news, and television (ahem)--that come with the internet. So yes, if I'm stuck on a stranded island, I will be blogging about it.
4. Fresh berries (or fruit in general). My friends think I'm crazy that I love fresh fruit so much, but ever since I started picking huckleberries with my neighbors as a kid, I've been hooked.
So what are your survival essentials? Make up? Books? Internet access? Or how about some pizza?
Be sure to check out all of Man Crates' fun gifts and crate packages! I'm not even a guy, and some of them sound like a lot of fun. And just think, it makes it way easier when it comes to shopping for those men in your life (boyfriends, husbands, brothers, and fathers, too!).
p.s. I was not compensated in any way for writing this post. This was simply a fun blog challenge that I was asked to be a part of!

Basically, you just described my list! Fruit would be my top one! And my computer and notebooks. It's kinda silly and obvious, but I would also include water, since I've been drinking water constantly all throughout the summer and can't work unless there's some nearby!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute post!!!
ReplyDeleteMy no brainers would be my Bible and ice water. Which probably don't really count because they are essentials.
My seconds are my camera, socks, something to write on and with (anything will do), and a highlighter. My family is now adding to this list: proper footwear, coordinating nail polish, rap music, food, and I'm going to stop now before they make me sound like some kind of crazy person! ;)
Love this! I agree with your list... I think I would add chapstick and lotion, and can I bring my husband and a few friends too? and ohmygoshYES PIZZA!
ReplyDeleteooo I'm doing this too! :) I love your picks!! ESPECIALLY the blueberries! yum yum YUMMM
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I'm excited to see your list! I actually had a really hard time narrowing my list down but I knew from the start that I had to include berries. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, those are great additions! How about we combine out lists? :) I mean, pizza is wayyy too good not to give up!
ReplyDeleteIce water!!! How could I forget that? And I was going to include my Bible in my list but totally forgot (womp, womp). :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that your family added in some things, too. I should have my family add some in for me!
Water is definitely a must--I was thinking about including it but I guess it never made the final cut! :) When I first started work last year I got a little dehydrated because I was working so much and now that I know what that feels like, I know that water is a definite necessity!
ReplyDeleteYes! Sounds good to me ;)
ReplyDeletelove this list!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea for a post :)
I love the "Linwood" frames on you, too cute!
It's a fun post idea, you should do it! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love those Linwood frames, too. I was flip-flopping between that pair and the Nedwin frames. And I still go back and forth, but the Linwood might be the winner.
At least for the moment, haha!
Do you have the 60D? I've been thinking about upgrading to it! Do you like it? :)
ReplyDeleteI do! And I do love it! I had the Rebel XS before the 60D and I really wanted a camera that had video capabilities (for vlogs and such) and heard good things about it. The layout is a lot different than my XS, but it was worth the change/adjustment period. What kind of camera/lenses do you have?
ReplyDeleteI have the Rebel T2i, it's great but I'm definitely looking to upgrade soon! I want to get a camera that is full frame, instead of cropped sensor. I think the lowest of that kind is the 6D. I have a couple lenses but I mostly shoot with my 50mm. I want the 35mm so badly!
ReplyDeleteGetting a full frame camera is on my someday list, too! If they weren't so spendy, I would have invested in one instead of the 60D. And I also want the 35mm, too! My nifty fifty lens doesn't autofocus anymore which is fine until I try to take photos of myself, haha. :)
ReplyDeleteOh man! Why doesn't it focus anymore? Just broken?
ReplyDeleteI think it's just age, to be honest. I got it used, because I didn't know if I really wanted it. It still focuses, but it's not always accurate, you know? So I guess it still works, it just doesn't work as well as it used to.
ReplyDeleteSo now I'm going between saving for the 35mm or buying another nifty fifty. Decisions, decisions. :)
Well since you have a cropped sensor camera, getting a 35 would be a "true" 50mm on your camera, so that's a factor! :)
ReplyDeleteI may have to do it! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too, they look so good on you!
