EVERYDAY MOMENTS: SNOW DAY.
I woke up this morning to quiet. Well, not really, considering my alarm woke me up, but I didn't hear the normal whizz of cars passing by on the streets outside my window. I popped out of bed, listening to the sounds of my mom getting my dog ready for his morning run and that's when it clicked: last night's winter storm warning.
As soon as I saw the white streets under the street lights, my eyes popped open a little wider and I felt like a kid once again--finger's crossed for a snow day.
My iPod dinged and I hoped and crossed my fingers for a school closure alert. Somehow our cotton ball snowball fights and snow dances worked once again because we have snow. Lots of snow. And the cherry on top (or maybe whipped cream?) was the snow day and day off from work.
So I'm sitting here, in my sweats and cozy sweatshirt, catching up on writing, reading, TV, going on snow walks with my family, and all that wintry-cozy-weekend stuff. A little day off from a crazy week at work was just what the doctor prescribed. Or maybe it was the teacher?
Either way, I'll take it and enjoy every single minute of it.

Words fail to express my jealousy. Looks glorious.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Hannah! The snow is definitely glorious and such a sweet surprise. :)
Deletelove the snow pictures girl! So pretty :)
ReplyDeleteNo snow here in VA, although it's kinda nice cause there's lots of it in Michigan.
And of course the bread, my weakness!
Thank you! :) The snow came very unexpectedly but I'm happy it's here because I love it (especially since it's pretty rare that we'd get it twice in one winter!). And yes, bread is definitely my weakness. I honestly feel like I'm taking photos of bread all the time, but I promise, I eat lots of other stuff, too! :)
Deleteyour dog is sooo cute!!!! i feel like a dork though that i put my dog sadie in coats when we're in southern ca and it's like 60 degrees. oh well, you can never love your dog tooooo much, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks! He's a grumpy old guy, but I like to think he's pretty darn cute and that helps make up for the fact that he barks so much and has anxiety problems. :) I also like to think that dogs in coats are pretty cute--but we only put him in it when it's freezing outside. Living in the PNW, 60 degrees is shorts weather for us! :)
DeleteAnd I completely agree, you never can love a dog too much!!
You got snow! And LOTS of it! I think if we got that much our kids wouldn't know what to do with themselves!
ReplyDeleteAnd... BREAD!
I know! I just stuck a ruler in a lower spot and it was like 8 inches and it's STILL snowing. It's actually unbelievable--but in a good way, considering I get to hang out at home in my sweats and enjoy a long weekend. :)
DeleteAnd yes, bread. My greatest weakness. I realized the other night that that's pretty much my default photo-taking subject, but I promise I don't just eat bread 24/7! It just somehow ends up on my photos. :)
Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHooray for snow days!
We've had a great winter with lots of snow... and every snow storm is different. It's glorious!
Thanks! Snow Days are the best, right? I always love a snow day because it's a great chance to be with loved ones, stay warm and cozy, and just enjoy an extra day off. :) And we've had lots of snow this winter, too! But I'm definitely not complaining...at least not yet!
Deletethese pictures are beautiful! yay for snow days!
ReplyDeleteThanks, sweet friend! And yes, snow days definitely deserve a post of their own and lots of hip, hip hoorays. They definitely are the best!
DeleteI love these so much! So pretty! I miss the snow so much! Thank you for sharing it with us!
