Anyway...here's what I've been up to.

Buying succulents + cute glass planters from Michael's. I've kind of decided it's the best because of their weekly coupons. These little glass planters (they even came with glass lids!) were about two dollars each.

The succulents were from Home Depot. I got a Donkey Tail succulent, Aloe plant, and another succulent that I just can't seem to name at the moment. I'll get back to you with that one. #majorblogfail.



Anyway, the steps are pretty easy. Just get some acrylic paint (also from Michael's) and a plastic bowl. Keep in mind that the higher the sides of the bowl, the higher your "paint-dips" will be.

1. To get the paint-dipped look, all you need to do is coat the sides of a plastic bowl with acrylic paint.

2. Then, move your planter along the sides of the bowl. Lifting the planter (away from the paint) will leave funny marks, so dip it in one continuous swirl.

3. Let them dry (sitting on the base or upright) on some wax paper or parchment paper so the paint doesn't drip down the sides.

4. After a few hours in the hot summer sun, you can bring them inside.

5. Then, paint the base. You could also dip them, but I decided to use a brush to keep the paint layer thin (I didn't want an uneven base).

6. Let the planters dry upside down for a few more hours.



When it comes to filling the planters, all you need are some rocks (I used leftover aquarium rocks) and some soil.

Then all you need to do is line the bottom of the planter with a layer of rocks and then add the succulent (or plant) and add some soil until it reaches the base of the plant.



It's been a few days and I have to say, I'm kind of in love with these little plants and their new little paint-dipped homes. Especially because they're kind enough to forgive me if I forget to water. Which I probably will.



p.s. If you make a mistake (or the paint gets a little wonky while you're dipping), just use a q-tip (and a little water if you need it) to clean up the mess. Trust me, it works!
